About the Author

Daron Malmborg has been in the aviation safety business for over thirty years. His understanding of electronics and mechanics has given him an advantage in the manner he describes the scenes and colorful settings. The reader can see in full color the chaos surrounding the characters and imagine the aromas of the apocalypse as if they are participating; waiting for the next revelation or near-death experience.

The Plan for Darkness is written in part to satisfy massive response to his first book, “Infection’s Revenge.” Readers from around the world have contacted him asking for more so he obliged in an overwhelming manner. Daron states his delay in publishing this novel was in part due to his inability to deal with the darkness of one of his characters. In the end, he wrestled the darkness into a shadow of submission, and turned the character into the silver lining that he can respect and release upon his readers.

Daron is a hard-core Harley and Indian rider and so is his wife. He is also an Internet ordained minister and performs weddings for friends in a most unique manner, from biker ceremonies to nondenominational, he pronounces them all and raises a toast to their good fortune and love.

Personal message from the author:

I wrote these books to release the pressure in my cranium; I’ll explain.

From the tender age of 13 years old, I was the projectionist at the military base theater that my father managed. Running the two side-by-side Simplicity carbon-arc projectors was a perfectly timed event and maintaining the old dinosaurs is something hard to describe compared to today’s digital projectors. Regardless if I wanted to watch the movies, I had to because I needed to ensure the proper alignment of the carbon-arc rods (similar to huge welding rods that could blind in an instant) within the body of the beasts in order to produce the required illumination. Switching between the projectors took concentration as I watched unblinking for those pesky white donuts to appear in the upper right hand corner of the screen, signaling only eight seconds left before the reel was empty. If you ever watch an old 35MM film, you’ll now understand those donuts were an indication to roll the other projector and then switch the shutter to keep the movie on track. Attention to detail is very much underrated. Everything from musicals to horror, this kid witnessed it and ensured the customers did too. Then as well as today, I can relate most everything to something that I’d seen. I suppose it does go back to our childhoods after all.

Flash-forward to today; there is a story with every corner we turn, person we meet, and conversation we engage. Many of my chapters were written behind bars; Harley handlebars and biker bars. I’ve solved a lot of problems in my world and the relief of pulling all of those words, turned sentences, turned paragraphs, turned chapters, turned books from my crammed head has given me much more time to ponder the “what-ifs and wherefores” of our lives. It’s hard to turn off. Whiskey helps.

I’ve encouraged my readers to contact me and tell me their thoughts about the books. I find it interesting and enlightening to hear how they perceive the events and what they see, hear, and smell with my descriptions. I’ve been chastised by one reader because of the untimely death of one character in Infection’s Revenge. She would not be satisfied with any answer I’d create. She certainly had conviction. The Plan for Darkness will most definitely send her over the edge; to quote Longfellow, “Into each life some rain must fall.”

I hope you enjoy both Infection’s Revenge and The Plan for Darkness. They were written for your entertainment.
